No, because it appears to move, and, more importantly, noticeably shift directions, even if one covers the symbols in the center. I think what’s happening is the border has changing animations. If you watch the sides when they’re moving down you can see it almost matches the spinning gradient, then shifts as the animation shifts. Going to the side the border animation almost matches the ring at the top and bottom.
I held a ruler length wise and vertical, and while my eye is still the weakest link to the illusion, as best as I can measure the interior is exactly 1 inch at all times. The hubby is going to try and convert the wheel to a single color to see if that turns it into a stationary circle.
It’s 100% an optical illusion. I’m not clear on WHY it does what it does to our eyes, but I know it’s not moving or changing shape.
